Be Yourself Disobey The Rules

Warning this post may contain moments of rambling. My thoughts decided to have a tennis match in my head today.

BAJEZEN - BLOG (1)

Sometimes in life, you have to disobey the rules. Now I don’t mean that laws that govern us and dictate how not to be a horrible human being. Although history has shown some of these same very rules, and laws have discriminated and disadvantaged several individuals. If that is not proof enough that we should not blindly follow certain rules,  I don’t know what is. I am specifically speaking about the ”rules ” as perceived by others.
Now I must admit I am quite stubborn and do not take orders very well . Especially ones I do not agree with. Just ask my last two managers; Managers just love opinionated workers don’t they?

I started blogging about five months ago. Like any good student, I did my research on how to start a blog. It quickly became overwhelming as I realized that everyone and their pet has articles on blogging rules.

I started to wonder Am I doing this right? What if I fail? What if no one reads what I write? I suppose every blogger goes through this during the initial months. Or is it just me? I have a really overactive mind which is sometimes turbocharged by caffeine.
Eventually, I had an epiphany! This was my blog. My creative pizza and I could sprinkle on any toppings I care to. I really do not think you can go wrong with pizza. We all have own preferences and ways of liking it served. So what is your niche? Life has no niche. Niche be damned. Rules what rules? Our blogs are as unique as we are. I can not grasp the concept of putting creativity in a box. There is no box. If you have a message share it even if one person gets it or no one gets it. You have crafted something that you can call yours.

There is no right or wrong way to live life

How many of you receive unsolicited advice? I think we all do daily; in the form of commercials and social media trying to paint us a picture of what the ideal life looks like. Or maybe you have an overzealous relative, friend, a lover who thinks they know it all.
Here is my view. There is no right or wrong way to live life. Unless of course, you want to be a Stepford wife. We are not robots. I think this is how some of us end up living a life that others plan out on our behalf.
I say once you are happy then to hell with all of it. The do this by a certain age, then buy this and you will the most stylish. Perceptions and judgment we are all in some way influenced by them. Really is that any way to live a life?

If you want to dress like a unicorn and believe you can fly you can do whatever your heart desires. People may say you’re crazy but people always have something to say. Validation is for parking. As long as your actions are not detrimental to anyone then just go ahead and be your bold beautiful self. Your life, your rules. Who does not like it can take the door or jump through a window. You do not need that sort of negativity in your life. I will take my judgments from God. Thank you very much!

Follow Your Intuition And Do What You Love

How many times have you heard this? Probably like a million by now. I am not talking about your career path here. What makes your soul sing? What makes you want to jump out of bed and twerk to a calypso tune?

We are just hit with an inspiration that drives us to do a particular thing. A thing that defies all logic but something be it intuition or passion lights a fire under our butts and we just have to roll with it. This is how some of the best things were created by breaking the rules. At times what we envision may not be very practical. I have done practical and practical quite frankly is boring and can be quite torturous. How many of us have worked way too long in the soul-sucking job? Or stayed with that unfulfilling lover because it felt safe?

Stand Up For Your Rights

We all are governed by certain rules and laws. What do we do when they are unfair, unjust and downright deplorable? Do we sit idly by and watch our fellow-man be mistreated? All rules are not made to be adhered to. Some if not all of it needs to be questioned. Whatever we do we must always stand up for our basic human rights. Highlight the issues and protest. Bring injustice to the light. Let’s not be selfish and just think about ourselves if one of us is affected by something then we all are. That is what humanity is all about.

We all need to take a leap (myself included )and throw those excuses in the trash. Are you living a life based on your own rules or someone else’s?

Thanks for reading. Love and Blessings Tachi

  1. Oh my God, I love this! Rules make us bend down to very obscene situations. Like staying in a relationship because of a child, just because the society expects you to stay; or keep quiet because men are talking, I mean, WTF???? Rules are just ways for people to bully us, instead of rules, we should have understandings between two people. Maes more sense!

  2. LOVE this! I too experienced that overwhelming wave of adrenaline and blog instructions when I set up my blog six months ago. Keep it up!
P.S. “Niche be damned” … I’m going to steal that if you don’t mind 🙂

I love everything about this post! I can relate on so many different levels! I feel like I conquer anything! Your words struck such a cord with me and gave me such words of encouragement! Thank you!

  4. This reminds me of one of my favorite lines from a Spice Girls song: “Who cares what they say because the rules are for breaking. Who made them anyway?” I took that line to heart when I was a kid, sometimes not for the best, but I agree — disobeying the rules can be great sometimes!

    Great post! x

    • I don’t know that song . I am going to look it up sounds like a song that I would like 🙂 Thanks for sharing the lyric and commenting as well 🙂

  5. Wow what a fantastic, liberating post. I love that you say validation is for parking, that is hilarious. Also the metaphor of your blog being like a pizza is exactly how I think of my blog too, a little bit of this and that. Keep up the good work 🙂

  6. This was a fun post to read. The line about dressing like a unicorn cracked me up! You are a kindred spirit because I have never been one for following rules. It’s your blog. It should reflect you!

    • ooh, I totally agree. It is very daunting for me to be told what to do. I never was really great at following the rules. Thanks so much for commenting

  7. This is a wonderful eye opening read. I have always found that rules are made to cater to whom they are made for, therefore the it always a ulterior motive at play with most of them.

  8. I totally relate to this. I, too, started my blog recently and all of the advice and tips about starting your blog and keeping it interesting, picking your niche, marketing and all of it is just so overwhelming. Let me tell you, I always love reading your posts. They are so inspiring and relatable! You’re doing awesome!

    • Oh Brittany. I am glad you love them. I was pretty sure when I started that no one would read them. There is just too much info. I think the best advice is to do you. We are all unique and I think there is room out there for all of our messages. I still have a lot to learn but that is the beauty of the process.

  9. I just read a similar article about the pressures of social media and I love how you put emphasis on living life the way you want to. I think your right in that we let outside influences tell us what our lives should look like and its up to us to figure it out for ourselves

    • That is the beauty of life I think making it your own way. We all at some point are of course influenced by the outside world. I think we need to stay strong and just be ourselves despite what the world tells us. Thanks for commenting.

  10. I will like to refer to you as a rebel with a cause. I t takes the fortitude of people like you to bring change. People like to put you in a box and in so doing stifle your a sense of who you are.

    • I kind of love that description. I was ever one to be put in a box. I may just die . It took me a while to make peace with who I am and I can boldly say that I would not change a thing about my journey. Thanks for commenting .
