Dancing On Her Own

This beat was unfamiliar
She found it impossible to adjust
Out of practice, off the dance floor for so long
Awkward, two left feet, frantic steps
Unsteady, unsure of which movements to trust
She tried many a partner
Their rhythms never synchronised, none ever seemed to be the right fight
So many missteps, dramedies
Ended up with egg on her face, she was so over it
Twisted ankles, repeated injuries she would throw in the towel sit this one out
She could not endure the disjointed pace
Chaos loomed over the dance floor
She lost direction, perhaps she lost her passion
Or maybe it was just a phase
One day she had an epiphany
She really did not need a partner, she could create a masterpiece all on her own
One step, two-step a shimmy and a shuffle
She embraced her newfound tempo
Whipped out her new attitude and went dancing on her own.
