Hi there lovelies, It has been a while since I have been in this space. These past few months have been a mishmash of all things crazy. Highs and lows and everything in between. I found myself feeling quite stressed, uninspired and literally wanting to take a nap until the year ends. When I find myself feeling off-balance I always look for ways to get myself centered again because I am totally useless to those nearest and dearest to me when I am not functioning t my peak. Let’s face it none of us are.
We are fast approaching the end of the year; in my opinion the two busiest months of the entire year. I was so pleased when one of my sisters shared this Mental health Challenge on Facebook. I thought this is exactly what I need to add a little zen to my daily crazy. Why not start November on a positive note and recharge, renew and restore your spirit. You would be totally surprised at how a few simple changes can boost your mood and outlook on life .. Also maybe several cups of coffee and affirmation tracks on repeat.

Hi there lovelies, Welcome to another instalment of the Sunday Soul Food Series. I don’t know about you guys but the past two months have been one emotional roller coaster ride. I blame the full moon and new moon being In Cancer. They are some deep and brooding souls. I have lost count of all of the times I have literally said I can’t this month. Then common sense kicked in and I realised whatever I speak will manifest. If I think I can’t then guess what I want . Have you guys ever felt that way like you just can’t deal with all of the ”stuff ” that life throws at you sometimes? Everything becomes so difficult and burdensome and a downright chore. You start to develop a defeatist attitude like maybe I should just lie here and not complete another damn thing. When you start to feel this way just consider these four thoughts before you start to utter another negative word or have another woe is me thought.
It never is as hopeless as you think.
How do you react when faced with difficulties will always be the determinant of your level of satisfaction or success. We all have struggles, setbacks, hiccups. Think about it. Was there ever anything you ever went through that you did not grow through? The bad break up, the job loss, paying off those bills. It sometimes feels like it is taking a century but at the end of the day the situation does change and you overcome it. Have you ever been so damaged by anything that you went through that you did not survive another day? If you are reading this then chances are the answer is a bit fat NO. The next time you are feeling that you can’t, remember those times that you slew those dragons, wrestled with those demons and you still came out victorious. Those thoughts will give you the encouragement and that little injection of empowerment that you need to keep pushing through.
The problem is not the problem. It is your attitude about the problem that is the problem.
Yes, I meant to rhyme there. That heading sure is a mouthful. You essentially attract the energy that you put out. Fretting, fussing, cussing, frustration only attracts more things for you to get upset about . Be the one that looks for the solutions in times of crisis and not the one that runs and panics . The world isn’t ending the sky isn’t falling . What you envision as the outcome is what you will get . Try to focus your energy not on the size of the issue or the seemingly tragic outcome , instead focus on how you can and will overcome it .
So maybe you want this one thing and you sat and you pictured it and you worked hard and still no results. What now? Do you give up or keep going ? in life, nothing rarely ever happens exactly how or when we want it to. When you make peace with that simple yet sometimes quite difficult fact; then you are halfway on the path to your dreams. We all get frustrated. we all want what we want and we want it now. I personally want to work four-hour days and retire at 40 and sip margaritas while laying on exotic beaches. We all have our dreams and aspirations. You will get what you want or maybe not. You will get something better. Life has a way of giving us what we need. Hold that vision and trust the process.
Sometimes when you think you can’t. You shouldn’t.
Have you ever had so much to do that you literally do not know where to start? I am the type of person that procrastinates when I have a lot to do. After the procrastination then comes panic and me wondering what I was thinking I committed to all this ‘stuff’ in the first place. You really cannot be everything to everyone. You really cannot keep going and giving and doing like the energiser bunny. He has unlimited reserves, you do not. Next time you feel like you can’t. Examine where you place your energy What and who you give your attention to. Pay attention to your body, your emotions. Have you been taking care of yourself as you should? Sometimes we just need to pause, declutter our mind, body and soul, Reevaluate our goals and most importantly; learn to say no to all the things that make us feel like crap. Just be with yourself. Recharge and rest. Always listen to your instincts they never ever lead you down the wrong path. Be kind to yourself always. Speak lovingly to and of yourself and turn that no I can’t intoYES I WILL.
Thoughts become things So what do you believe in? Do you listen to that little nag in your head that says ”You can’t do it ” or are you going to listen to that inner voice that screams Everything that you wanted can be yours You are doing your best. I am going to win.
How do you cope when feeling like you can’t What are some of the ways you stay motivated when life gets you down?

It is officially summer. Well, to be honest, it is always summer here in Barbados. There are no seasons unless you count the hurricane season as a season. Around the months of June until August it just gets hotter. I mean so hot you just want to lie on the beach with a cocktail hot. Today I decided to treat myself head to toe. My inner goddess is just screaming for her glow to be refreshed. During these hot months, we typically show a little more skin, cut loose and let’s be honest the sun takes a toll on our skin and our bodies. Here are a few simple recipes you can use to get your glow up this summer.
Total hydration for that all over glow.
When it gets hot , Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Nothing saps your energy and leaves you feeling as dull and listless as a dried coconut like lack of water. Infused waters are indeed nothing new. My go-to is lemon water. Lately, I love lemon and orange . It kind of reminds me of lemonade without the sweetness. If you do get bored with this combo you can always add some chia seeds, watermelon, mint anything that gives it a bit of a twist and can excite your palate a bit. Cut your fruits up and leave them with water in the fridge for four hours or overnight. Mix it up. Spice it up. Combine fruits and veggies whatever suits your fancy. Hydration is key to keep your body functioning at its peak. Since I am an island dweller I also love a good tall glass of coconut water 🙂
A mini vacation for your feet
Epsom salts soothe tired feet Warm water And a few drops of your favourite essential oil Soak for 10-20 minutes. Grab a book. Listen to meditation track. Relax and feel the stress leaving your body.

An invigorating hand and foot scrub Am I the only one that has a love affair with coconut oil? I used sea salt as I love the texture of it to slough off those dead skin cells. It also is such a great detoxifier. The result: baby soft hands and feet. Smooth and inviting.
Pick Me Up Body Scrub
I do not know about you guys but just the smell of coffee gets me fired up. I think I may be an addict. Who really can go wrong with coffee in your cup and coffee in your shower. Coffee is not only a pick me up but it’s great for dry skin, cellulite and stretch marks. It will keep your bum perfectly polished for all of those hot summer bikini sessions. It also smells and feels great too. I love brown sugar for its coarser texture but the mixture is really up to you. You can add or subtract ingredients depending on your personal preference.
Detox Face Mask
This is the recipe I use every Sunday as I lounge around with my cup of coffee. Hi, there lovelies Happy and Blessed Sunday to all of you beautiful souls.
Something about Sundays reverberates quiet reflection for me. For some it is a day of worship, for others, it just screams fun in the sun. If you are lucky you have the day off from work. I remember two years of working Sundays, for me that was just so disrespectful lol but hey one must pay the bills, feed the family and also my mild shopping addiction. Whatever your Sunday entails; how about you ask yourself today, What can I do to make life better for me? Be totally selfish. You deserve it. Somehow our souls always have the answers, we know what needs to be done but yet we often times feel guilty about saying no or maybe just disappearing for a few hours for a recharge. Take a few minutes today to do something that brings you joy. Absolutely no excuses. Even if it is just buying yourself an ice cream cone and pretending that you are a toddler again with not a care in this world. Simply reflect on this past week and what made it great, even if it wasn’t so great to use your imagination it can lead you to some wonderful places. As usual, I leave you with one of my poems. Hopefully, it inspires you, sparks some food for thought or simply let it be a few seconds to escape from it all.
Life can be messy
You have to choose your battles wisely
Are you going to walk around with a weight on your shoulders?
No wonder you are tired
Worry does make the air so thick and heavy
It can become stifling, crippling, gripping you so tightly that your forget t breathe
In any situation you have three options :
Stress about it, Accept it or if you just can’t deal then carry on smartly
No need for revenge, resentment or regret
We have no space to encourage and foster that bad energy
Work on your own shit
Don’t watch others are doing
Work on where you place your focus
Sometimes you trip, you most definitely will fall
No shame in faltering as long as you get back up again
Be brave enough to choose yourself
Pick your battles, Keep your glow up
In this life you need to choose your battles wisely
If it does not bring you peace then it isn’t for you
Put one foot in front of the other, let it go, move on from the darkness
Sometimes you just need to say to hell with it and walk away

How do you deal with life’s messes? What brings you joy?
When I was younger, I always saw endings as a tragedy They induced panic, caused tears.
So dramatic I was I always thought they were the end of me As I grew older and mastered the skill of letting things go I realised that faith would guide me The things that fall away were only meant to be there for a moment The disappointments, the rejections they do not define me The pain , the upset the messy moments They all come together to help you grow So what if it is over? It was fun for the while
The time has come to let it go Endings don’t have to be sad It may have been good but better will come Have faith, take that leap Welcome all possibilities with open arms Let go and let it flow.
Sometimes, we all have our weak moments. You guys can relate I am sure, You know the ones where you get down on yourself because you think maybe, just maybe you are falling behind or your life is not going according to your best-laid plans. I came up with this one after a meditation. I totally love when inspiration hits me from nowhere. This is a reminder for myself as well as anyone who needs it. You are a precious gift to this world. Never forget to .. Cherish yourself, take care of your inner needs and take exquisite care of yourself.
You do not have to be defined by your experiences You do not have to be tethered to your past Take things one day at a time Work on enjoying this moment Take a deep breath Feel your body fill with calm and contentment Smile and believe, any moment, this very moment can be your fresh start.

Sometimes I long for simple days. The days when all I had to do was concern myself with what I wanted to eat for lunch. Just maybe I miss being a toddler. I envy my daughter sometimes, such a carefree unbridled bundle of energy. Some days as much as I hate to admit it; life is synonymous with overwhelm. We take on everything. We take on far too much until we feel like we have the weight of the entire Universe on our shoulders. It is safe to say sometimes I think this adulting business can miss me. I just want to be like a toddler and run around in my underwear and do whatever my little heart desires.
The bills are due and you are sitting there thinking about tomorrow and all of the things that you have to do. I don’t know about you but I am sick of to do lists. Yes, they keep us organized but they also keep us busy. So busy that we forget that we were not created to do stuff all the time. We were created to be joyful and carefree and to just simply be.
Anyone out there ever had an anxiety attack? I really do not know how to describe it. The walls are closing in. You are trying your best to keep shit together. Keep it all together. I am that kind of woman. I want to do it all and I want to do it all alone. Of course, I know this is not logical but as much as we resist we are all affected by the pressures of daily life at some point. When I get anxious, I literally forget to breathe. I think most of my anxiousness is brought on by my endless need for mental to-do lists. Things are not how I want them to be or maybe I have so many things I “must do”. My mind is not present and I am trying to live oh so many moments at once.
All the trivial things you worry about can make u manic. What are you doing? Living for next week next month next year? Or are you beating yourself up for something you did or did not do last year? We often forget that all we ever really have is now. Have you ever been overwhelmed? Truly overwhelmed? During these periods of overwhelm so many mixed emotions can arise. None of them, at least in my case are ever anything good. Self-doubt, fear, shame they all come crashing down like thunderstorms. Even for the strong ones, it can be too much to bear. I strongly believe in the immensely beautiful power of words; so I came up with five affirmations that can help you reset and refocus your mind when you are overwhelmed. We all have those days when we feel like the world is against us.
Sometimes you just need a reminder to think happy thoughts and JUST BREATHE.
We all have those days when we forget how awesome we are. Do not place your value in the hands of those who do not appreciate you You are a STAR. Don’t you ever forget it . Nip those feelings of unworthiness in the bud with this affirmation.
As one of my good friends said just today as much self -love you have there are things that happen that will shake you ,that will sting a little.We are after all perfectly imperfectly. All you can do is take life’s challenges in stride. Keep your head held high and march forward t the future you have envisioned. Just remember no matter what you are confident and strong and you have got this.
Most importantly; Life for today for this moment. Stop looking back and stay focused on the prize.
