When you become a mother you sign a life long contract. You are bound by love to this precious little human. There are no off days, no sick leave and no vacations. Some days are chaotic, others pass like a breeze. In the early years, you are lucky if you manage a decent shower and a couple of hours sleep. Despite all of the up and downs, there is one wonderful constant that is: love. This idea came to me as I was chasing the toddler around the living room .(no I did not write it while I was running . I wish I was that talented . ) Here are five reasons why I think mommies make good managers:
A Positive Attitude
It takes a good deal of positivity to get through some days. Patience is a virtue that is taught when you are a mother .Especially when they yell mummy for the millionth time, or you have to watch the same show over and over 😊 Then they are the tantrums, the spills. What gets us through is having a good laugh at our little rascals. Pick up dust off and move on to the next day. Each day brings a new lesson.
We can Multitask
Any good manager is never set in their ways. There are days you will plan . Have your schedule on point and of course having children throws the schedule into a tail spin. You need a great deal of flexibility and I mean that in both ways mentally and physically.Always expect the unexpected. Us mothers must always have a contingency plan . We adapt and adjust according to the circumstances. We try multiple things to see what works ( this is especially valuable when trying to figure out feeding schedules and what they like to eat).Always having to think on our feet; we know how to work under pressure and come up with new ideas in a jiffy.
We know The Value of Team Work
Any mother knows the value of having a good support system .Especially in the beginning or what I called the start-up phase. There is so much to learn and so much to do. It can become thoroughly overwhelming.Being surrounded by strong and reliable people is a blessing. Those who have more than one child know the value of having the older ones help out with chores and other duties to ensure the environment is less chaotic .Delegation is key . We would love to do it all ourselves but we all know that is not possible unless you want to be stressed out.
Listening and Making Good Decisions
A mother is the protector . She will fiercely protect her family . They after all her greatest asset. She does what it takes to provide for her family . She guarantees that her family is respected, cared for and always looks out for their best interests . We listen and respond to the needs of everyone.
We have to make some unpopular decisions sometimes. It’s all for the greater good. No, you can not have a bag of cookies for lunch. Hyperactivity and diabetes are not a good combo. I think as a mother; I possess all the qualities of a good manager. We have a lot to deal with. Chores, mix-ups, mishaps, and stubbornness. At the end of the day, we handle it all the best way we can and we do it all with love .
Shout out to all the awesome moms out there.
Love and Blessings Tachi
