Daily Prompt : Dignify

Those in public office are elected to serve us
At least that is how it is supposed to go
In the end, they only attempt to pull the wool over our eyes
They rant and rave and put on a show
For a vote, they would do anything
A power trip is their only goal
Some of the best actors out there
They know how to play the role
of a protector, a gift giver, shower us with fake blessings
Rope us in with whispers of sweet nothings
Taking everything until we are left bare
Dignified because of a title?
Respect is earned by having basic human decency
Exposed to lies, corruption, and deceit

Enlightened, we see the truth

There is nothing you can do to placate the outraged citizenry
