Fill Your Own Cup First

Spread the love

relentless self love

Sometimes, we all have our weak moments. You guys can relate I am sure, You know the ones where you get down on yourself because you think maybe, just maybe you are falling behind or your life is not going according to your best-laid plans. I came up with this one after a meditation. I totally love when inspiration hits me from nowhere.  This is a reminder for myself as well as anyone who needs it. You are a precious gift to this world. Never forget to .. Cherish yourself, take care of your inner needs and take exquisite care of yourself.

relentless self love

You do not have to be defined by your experiences
You do not have to be tethered to your past
Take things one day at a time
Work on enjoying this moment
Take a deep breath
Feel your body fill with calm and contentment
Smile and believe, any moment,  this very moment can be your fresh start.

Start as many times as you need to
Be patient with yourself
Love yourself relentlessly
Your energy, your vibe your soul that is your wealth
Take time to unplug, decompress, chuck it all
to  just be and spend some time with yourself
You have the power to be whatever you want to be and not be defined externals
Focus on you , fill your own damn cup for once
It is never selfish, only foolish not to pour all of the love you have into yourself

  1. This is so beautifully written, and I totally agree with the sentiment of your message! In difficult times, it’s self-love ultimately that keeps you pushing through and is definitely a quality that we could all do with nourishing a little more. Lovely reminder to start the week – thank you!

  2. It’s so important to look after ourselves. I make time for self-care daily. My whole morning routine is full of self-care and personal development activities like reading, meditation and exercise ?

    • I aspire to have a morning routine that is as solid as your is. It is baby steps for me. Trying to get it organised with a toddler and full-time job is not early but I will wake up earlier and at least start with yoga and meditation in the morning.

  3. Clair says:

I am horrible at filling my own cup. I think that is why I am always running on empty: exhausted, stressed, and anxious. I am going to make an attempt to fill my own cup more often 🙂

    • Oh no you need to stop that . It is not a good way to be . Practice checking on yourself each day and I promise you it will get easier.

  4. My favorite self care activity is sitting outside by the lake and just allowing myself to breathe and release negative energy. Love the poem!

  5. I love this! It’s very beautiful, and speaks to me specifically because I focus mostly on self-care. I believe positive mental health is SO important !

  6. It’s taken me many years to realize how important the practice of self-love and self-care is – you are so right that it is not selfish, but wise. For me, loving myself goes beyond the daily rituals like taking a bubble bath or reading a good book – it’s learning to listen to and trust my inner voice, and letting go of the obligations and ‘shoulds’ that come from other people.

  7. You are a Light! I love this inspirational reminder of the most important practice ever: self-love. I am a firm believer that you cannot give what you do not have. Only to the extent that you can love yourself, you can love others as surely. If ever I find nyself reluctant to practice self-care, I remember this, and all else comes into alignment.

    • As I sit here running on empty at the moment I needed this reminder for myself. You can not give what you do not have or what you do not have the energy for . Thanks for commenting 🙂

  8. Yes, self love is definitely not selfish…Only by first loving and appreciating ourselves can we truly love and appreciate others. I’m taking this line away with me ‘Focus on you , fill your own damn cup for once’. Just brilliant!

  9. Inspiring! You can never give back if you yourself isn’t full! I love how you play your words and put them into this magical priceless poetry!
