Young at heart be fabulous at any age

What is age anyway?

A concept that we use to keep track of the deterioration of our bodies?

When did we become so obsessed with youth? Why do we let this concept define us, therefore, keeping us in neat little boxes?

Having worked with people mostly ten years my junior  I used to hear you are old a lot. Of course, I used to laugh this off. In my mind, I will never be old. My looks may fade, the pains may come but me old? Never .

Spirit does not age. That’s what defines me. No one is too young or too old to do anything. We are all capable of whatever we put our minds to.Age is just another concept that leads us to limit ourselves. If you think you are old, tired and just not capable no matter what age you are, you will be.Beliefs are a powerful thing. They can help us to grow or shrink.

I want to be what we call forever young. Wake up vibrant and feeling blessed no matter what my life’ s circumstances or how many years I have been alive. I don’t want to hear but you are 35 and why aren’t you married? Why don’t you have a degree? My life achievements will not be defined by a timeline; some socially imposed concept of how my life should look at a certain age.

Our paths are all different. That is the beauty of life. We are all unique.I  am not saying we should set goals or have dreams. Don’t beat yourself up, if you have not achieved what your peers have as yet. The comparison will lead to a defeatist attitude.  As long as you have breath in your body and a strong will, you will achieve what you desire in your time. No one’s progress in life should be defined by what they have or what they have done by a certain age. Just as we should not be defined by our race, sexual preference.

In a perfect world, we are all young. We live lives that we love,  we cherish the people we have. We do all the things that bring us joy. So today I say let’s forget about age and if you want to start something just do it. It does not matter if you are 12 or 35  or 75.  Let’s maintain that childlike wonder we were all born with. Let’s be playful, have fun and forget about our age.

  1. this is so true! Age is just a number. It may hint at the years of your experience but it shouldn’t define who you are as a person. I know plenty of women past their sixties and they feel so young at heart. We shouldn’t label people by their age. We should embrace them for their wisdom and love of life!

  2. This brought such a smile to my face!! Age maybe a great way to quantify life experience, but it is really how we feel on the inside that matters most. The internal fuel that drives us, propels us forward and allows us to enjoy life’s gifts has no age. For those who do not put too much stock in their physical age, but rather be present and LIVE life as opposed to getting through life, they really do enjoy what life has to offer and they are also far more present and mindful in their lives.

  3. Aw, this was a lovely read. I know that I have fallen victim to the “but I’m this old and haven’t achieved such and such yet”. I look around and all of my high school friends have achieved degrees and have great careers. And I’m still ambling a bit. But you’re right, we can’t live by comparing our achievements or external looks to others. I too want to wake up and feel vibrant and blessed! Amen to that all the way!

    • I think we all fall victim sometimes to the comparison game. When I do that I think that we never really know what is going on in the background with them. We only see their highlight reel. I think it is best to focus on you and what brings you joy . Thanks for commenting.

  4. This is so true, I think everyone lives a child inside them. If they don’t look at the mirrow they won’t know how old they are. That’s the fun part. Age is just the number. We should live the way we wanted to and care less about what others think of us. By the way, I love the picture with the happy couples, they look so cute and happy no matter what their age is.

  5. This is such a great post! I’m with you – I want to be forever young in spirit. I plan to keep learning and taking up new hobbies and discovering new gifts and talents until the day I die 🙂

  6. I completely agree with you. We’re all told we have to accomplish certain things in a certain order and by a certain age. It sounds very freeing to be able to say, I’m going to do what I want when I want and not worry about what anyone else thinks.

  7. Beautiful post Tachi. It is so relevant to where I find myself now? Just turned 35 and already getting the your old from younger people. Even though I don’t feel any older, still feel young and fabulous? Definitely forever young hun??Thanks for this inspirational and uplifting post❤️
